It’s How You Be

HOW to be a fun mum

Doing and being.

Sometimes it’s easy to focus so much on what I do that I forget that it’s how I am  — how I be — that carries strength.

When I look back at the times when my children were very young, it’s the moment in the grocery aisle where I chatted to my curious daughter about “that wired looking fruit”; it’s the getting down on my children’s level to look in their eyes; it’s the best days that just happened because we were in it — that I’m most proud of.  It’s not the baking, or cooking, or activities that I see as bringing the most significance to our relationship. It’s the living of life together as it happens.

Yes, it’s less about what I do and more about how I be.  And that’s the challenge, because it’s a much harder one.
