What Other Fun Mums Are Doing

Welcome to a new section here at Be A Fun Mum where I’ll be showcasing the fun things YOU are doing with your kids.  If you would like to be featured in the next one, read the submissions guidelines.

1. We Did a Post IDEA!

FunMum Erin read this post: Pink Lemonade and Pink Pasta Please, and made some pasta for her girls

“Thanks so much Kelly, they did this for over two hours.”

2. Christmas Craft

FunMum Isabeau made a Christmas Hand and Foot Reindeer.

Instructions:

1. Trace hands on a piece of paper and cut out

2. Trace one foot on a piece of paper and cut out

3. Stick hands and foot down on paper (as above picture)

4. Draw eyes

5. Add a pom pom red nose

3. DIY Product

Fun Mum Christina and her family redecorated an old table.  It looks fantastic!

“Our table was in desperated need of a make over. So, we sanded and painted it with blackboard paint and then painted a road and a couple vehicles on it. The boys LOVE it and best of all it was a joint effort. I love that we make this together.”

4. Summer Fun

FunMum Caz shares about the fun you can have with water beads on her blog A Little Learning for Two.

I loved the look of this so much I purchased some beads myself here: Aqua Beads

5. All Year Fun

FunMum Nicole buys a zoo membership for her family.

“We usually end up going once every two or three weeks. We only go for an hour or so and look at one area.  There’s no pressure to see everything all in one day – better suited to my almost 2 year old’s attention span.”

These are fun but messy ideas. It was wet and the kids were sick this week, so when they asked if they could paint a couple of old wooden chairs I let them go for it. They had a ball, and I don’t think it matters that the chairs don’t look perfect,. They got of lot of satisfaction from it, and I smile everytime I see them! Oh and we have those water beads too, though I’m not really a fan. When they are tiny, the get everywhere, and when they are big and watery they get gluggy.

I BET they loved that! Yes, some of these are messy but that is part of what I love about summer: the mess can be left outside in the sun!

I haven’t used the beads yet so it will be interesting to see how they go.

What colour did they paint the chairs?

Thankyou for featuring our water beads post, hope you have a lot of fun with yours as well! We only ever use our beads once because like MaidInAustralia said they get gluggy after being squished and squashed. I buy them from Ebay for a little over $1 a pack, so for a few dollars we get to have a good few hours of fun (and quiet ;-D). To keep mess minimal I put them in a tub inside our empty bath and my girls go nuts in there, it’s nice and easy to clean up then and so are the kids!

You know that you are just filled with brilliance? The babysitting of the triplets went well on Saturday 🙂 I can’t access my email at the moment to tell you, but thank-you for your help!

    Much love,

    K xx
