Pain! Since starting my training for the Bridge to Brisbane in September, I’ve completed my dedicated training route (in addition to my normal exercise routine) six times now, and it’s hard.  Very hard.  But I am determined, and my time is improving and my legs are trimming (bonus!).

training for the bridge to brisbaneOn my weekend runs when my husband is home, I take one of my older children, and they bike ride along side me.  I’m too exhausted to chat but the company is nice.  I love watching how the things we incorporate into life, impact the children.  They are excited about my training, and health, goals and exercise naturally come up in general conversation.  It reinforces to me, the importance of leading by example, and weaving teachable moments into everyday life.

It’s always been important for me to continue to be who I am — still a definable person — through parenting, as I find ways of living and sharing life alongside my children. Together.

Run on.

    Good on you Kelly. I’m training for city to surf in 10 days quick is 14km. I remember not that long ago when I couldn’t run 5km. And the pain. but it won’t take long to get there. We had a bad week last Saturday and could only manage 5km when we were aiming for 8km. But we managed to chat most of the way. Could never have done that 4 weeks ago! So keep at it.
    My 4 year old daughter knows Mummy does her exercises and waves me off when I leave. I hope I’m a good role model!

      Thank you so much for the encouragement. Means a lot. My MIL told me the same…it feels like you just won’t ever be able to do it but just keep going. xx

    Good on you Kelly! Sounds like you are having a great time in the process while getting fit and raising money. I’m jealous! I have wanted to do a fun run for ages – but its just impossible at the moment with 2 young kids (2.5 and 6 months) and a husband who is away for work 14 hours a day, 6 days a week. Do you have any advice on how to train when you have young kids? Would love a post on how to exercise with young kids 🙂
