Trying out different RedBalloon experience gifts is one of those fun things that have come my way because of my blog. I love the adventure of it, and the opportunity to try different things. As it’s coming up to Christmas, I decided road test the Napoleon makeup lesson in Brisbane (which comes with $95 of free product of choice — yes!). This experience would be fabulous gift for young women, or for mums like me who enjoy makeup but perhaps need a little boost.
This is what happened
I redeemed my RedBalloon voucher online, and then received an email confirmation with the address of the makeup studio, confirmed time and instructions.
When I arrived for my appointment, my lovely makeup artist Lucy asked me what sort of look I wanted to learn specifically. I’ve always wanted to do the smokey eye look (well) so that is what we went with. Lucy took me though every single step — she did one side of my face, and then I did the other — and gave me heaps of tips along the way. I used to be fairly good with makeup but during the last 11 years of parenting, I’ve lost touch with what’s available and how to use it. I learned a lot and feel more confident on how to utilise my makeup at home.
The BEST thing about this experience is you get to spend $95 dollars (which is the same amount as the entire experience) on your choice of Napoleon Perdis makeup so not only did I take home skills with me, but goodies too.
Products used
I’m making a list here of the Napoleon Perdis products used to achieve this look, mostly for my own records for when I do it again. Perfect for this party season! My make up artist did a brilliant cheat sheet for me to take home too so I know I will be able to do it again.

Before / After
Now, I have to say here, that I took the before picture in bad light at the makeup studio with my mobile phone and the after pic is later with my Nikon camera in lovely light so it looks very dramatic, but you get the drift. So happy with how it turned out and that I did half my face myself!
