Three years ago I made an EPIC mess in the kitchen trying (and failing) to make a gingerbread house. It was so, so, so, so hard. I was frustrated. And I vowed to NEVER AGAIN make one from scratch. Three years on, and I still haven’t. I positioned the camera very carefully to hide some of the epic fails in my attempt. AND the house was totally leaning on something (it wouldn’t even stand up by itself!)
Then I found this image on George Takei’s fb page and I’m kicking myself that I didn’t just add a dinosaur, right? That would have solved all my problems!
On other gingerbread news, when I was in Dubai (was it only a few days ago!?), I found a life size gingerbread house in The Lotus Lounge at the Jumeirah Zabeel Saray Hotel (on The Palm). It was an incredible place. Just incredible (this is the bathroom and this is this where I ate breakfast).
The gingerbread house smelt amazing. I counted 155 bricks, just in the front panel. I asked one of the staff how it was constructed; he said there was a wooden frame underneath and the chef made many, many, many bricks to decorate it.
Hansel & Gretel eat your heart out! So cool. My kids loved this pic (but they couldn’t understand why I didn’t lick the house).
I’m happy to look at, stand in and eat gingerbread houses, but I have no…absolutely no desire to make one…ever again. Unless it’s with a dinosaur.
