Before Christmas, I caught up with Tea (pronounced Tee-ah) at her home in Brisbane. Tea is from Name My Stuff, and we met originally at a business meeting where I noticed the (awesome) drink bottle she had with her – I reviewed them here. Tea sells all sorts of quality personalised items in her online store (great back to school items).
The open spaces, the use of both colour and neutrals, and the mix of new and old furniture struck me about the beautiful home Tea lives in with her two children. I especially loved how she weaves her Danish heritage around the home. Let me show you around.
Kitchen
The light is beautiful in the kitchen! Tea and I sat in here chatting, while sipping coffee with the occasional bite of a Danish cinnamon scroll. The chairs in the kitchen are over 125 years old, and before sitting in Tea’s kitchen, they sat in her grandparent’s kitchen. And before sitting in her grandparent’s kitchen, they sat in her great grandparent’s kitchen (who received the chairs as a wedding gift).
A wooden retractable ruler fixed to the wall becomes a running growth chart for the kids.

Living
Spots of bright colour.
A great little spot Tea set up for her two children in the living area, for homework or quiet play. There’s a few labeled containers of Lego there for the kids to enjoy (great idea).
On a Saturday morning, you’ll often find Tea down at the Rocklea fresh produce markets, catching up with friends over coffee and breakfast. While there, she often grabs a few bunches of “cheap and colourful” fresh flowers for the house.
A good idea for storing and displaying children’s artwork on the wall.
How cute is this? A fun way to pretty up a small fire extinguisher.
Bathroom
I adore the colours and shapes here. The spots. The checks. The red. The green.
Toy Room
An inviting reading corner.
A recycled Danish calendar makes for a cute wall feature. The quirky illustrations are by Danish author and illustrator, Halfdan Rasmussen.
Bedroom
A narrow bed becomes a spot to sit and read.
Someone was giving away this vintage bookshelf and Tea snapped it up for a bright (and practical) spot of colour in the bedroom.
Treehouse
Nestled inside a Mango tree in the backyard is a treehouse for the kids to play in. How very Aussie. How very awesome.

I’ve been meaning to do a growth chart but put it off thinking we’ll move from here. It’s been four years. The retractable ruler idea looks good here, I might give it a go. Anyway, we can always take it with us when we move house. Thanks for sharing!
