Mother’s Day: Cupcake Case Flower Arrangement

Here’s something super simple and sweet for Mother’s Day: mini floral arrangement in a decorative cupcake case.  I was thinking this could make adorable birthday party/table decoration too. Or even as a birthday party activity; each child could arrange their own flower arrangement. How cute would that be?

This is one of those low cost meaningful gifts and it’s easy so kids could enjoy making their own arrangement for mum.

Materials

Decorative cupcake cases

Flowers and foliage (I purchased a few flower singles and also raided the garden)

Floral foam – cut to size (available from discount, craft and florist stores)

Mother's Day Gift Idea: Use a decorative cupcake case to make a mini flower arrangement. Kids could do it themselves!

1. Cut foam cubes to size. The cube should sit approximately 1 cm from the top of the cupcake case. I used a sharp knife and a cutting board to do this.

2. Cut flower stems to size. For kids, I would already have a selection of flowers ready to arrange.

3. Press the flower stems down into the foam.

4. Pour a little water to moisten the foam. The cupcake cases can handle water without leaking, but don’t fill, just use enough water to moisten the sponge or the water will eventually soften the cases.

5. Keep the sponge moist and enjoy for a week!

Where did you purchase the decorative cupcake cases? I especially would like to use the heart cups for a Valentines day project.

Hi Renee. I can’t quite remember how but you can find these in lots of places, from speciality stores, to places like Spotlight, Kmart, Home and even Woolworths etc.
