Marble Painting

This is wonderful activity to do with your little ones as it requires no artistic skill at all. It feels like playing an old pin ball machine and you can create some colourful patterns and designs. With hardly any equipment, it is simple, quick and not very messy. My kind of art! Today we made some wrapping paper prints which will be great with Father’s Day coming up. We used lots of colours and also made some prints from the colours of our favourite footy team – brown and gold.

All you need:

  • Paper
  • Paint
  • Marbles (I used 4)
  • Container or lid to fit your sheet of paper. I used a lid from a box but you could also use a large baking tray or lid from a plastic tub or even a shoebox/plastic container.

How to marble paint - easy fun for kids

1. Place the paper inside the lid.

2. Drizzle some paint onto the paper. Tell the kids not to use too much paint in this step. Just a few drops around the paper is good.

3. Place your marbles onto the paper and roll around until the paint is spread.

4. Let paint dry.

You can use it for wrapping paper, birthday cards, collages, wall posters or to send to your friends in the mail.

I remembered that my 4 year old had this activity for his art class last year. We still have the painting he made and it is framed too!
