Coolness like this is thanks to 3D printing. It will be interesting to see what possibilities arise thanks to this new technology. For now, I’m focusing on personalised mini fig heads that fit Lego. How cool are they!
Funky 3D Faces use customers photos to create a 3D model using facial recognition software. There are 10 hairstyles to choose from and 3 hair colours.
The company attached to this venture make 3D printed bones for the medical industry, but they wanted to try something a bit more fun with the technology. Designing the minifig heads took 3 months of trial and error and many failed attempts, but are now for sale through the website or over at the ETSY store (I notice they are on sale at ETSY).
