Cardboard Roll Flowers

Since I’ve had kids, I have been collecting empty toilet rolls as if my life depended on them. My life didn’t depend on them but I assumed my sanity would because one day they would be used for craft. We’ve made many toilet roll crafts over the years and if you search on Pinterest, you will find hundreds of ways to turn the humble empty toilet roll into a work of art.

Being school holidays, and having an accumulated collection of empty toilet rolls that needed to be used up, I got the girls to work in creating these fabulous Toilet Roll Flowers. This activity kept my three year old and five year old entertained for a couple of hours in the morning. They decorated the flowers two ways: with washi tape and paint. Adult help was needed to puncture the skewer through the toilet roll for the stem, and cutting the petals, but the decorating was all up to my kids. It was a lovely morning working together to create blooms for the house.

What You’ll Need

6. Once the petals have been covered with tape, get an adult to poke a wooden skewer through the bottom of the toilet roll. You may like to place some glue tack at the top of the skewer so if fastens neatly into the top of the inner edge of the toilet roll.

Great idea!!! I used to collect our toilet rolls for the junk craft box at my kids school- only to be told they aren’t allowed to use them anymore! I love the idea of making these- might get my kids to make some ready for Mothers Day next month!

What a great idea to use up all the toilet roll my daughter has collected, I am not allowed to throw them away and the cupboard is full of them! It also includes her love of sticky tape and painting, she’ll totally love this activity! I think the Nannies will love a bunch of these for Mother’s Day.
