Christmas Breadsticks

Hi again, Amanda from ‘Simple home cook’ here. Christmas is nearly upon us and I love this time of year when we get to hang out with our family, sing songs and enjoy each others company. My kids love cooking and sometimes it is hard to get all 3 kids involved in the kitchen but this recipe is perfect. It is little messy but a bit of mess never hurt anyone.

I wanted to give them a Christmas theme but it is almost impossible to find red and green sprinkles (lots of purple and pink but no red!) I was wondering the supermarket aisles trying to find something else to use when I spotted the apple flavoured tic tacs. Green and red – perfect!! I got out my mortar and pestle and bashed them into pieces and they worked great.

Try them with your kids these holidays – they will love them.

Step 1

Line a large airtight container with baking paper. Set aside.

Step 2

Smash the tic tacs into little pieces using a mortar and pestle or any other kitchen appliance that will do the job. I had them all over the floor as they can get a bit jumpy!

Step 3

Break chocolate into pieces and place in microwave safe bowl. Microwave in 30 second bursts, stirring each time until melted. Take care not to burn the chocolate.

Step 3

Using a spoon, cover ¾ of the breadstick with chocolate. Scrape off any excess chocolate. Lay in the prepared container.

Step 4

Sprinkle with broken up tic tacs. Place in fridge to set the chocolate. Serve straight from the fridge.
