How Easy it Is to Make Play Dough

There are heaps and heaps of different recipe for play dough. For different types you can check out this post: 6 Play Dough Recipes. If you have never made play dough before, it’s so-so easy and something you can whip up with minimal effort. Below is a very non-glamourous video how I make play dough.

How to make uncoloured play dough

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of salt
  • 1 cup of plain flour
  • 2 tablespoons of cream of tartar
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • Food colouring (optional)

Instructions

1. Add all ingredients to a saucepan.

2. Stir continuously over medium heat until the mixture balls together. Approximately 4 minutes. 

3. Transfer play dough to a floured surface and knead lightly.

Coloured Play Dough

If you want to make coloured play dough, while the dough is still warm, simply divide the dough into even portions and add a few drops of food colouring and kneed. Repeat until desired colour is achieved.

Store play dough in an air tight container or in a zip lock bag

Of course there’s the usual way to play with dough, just shape away or cut with cookie cutters. However there are many different ways yon can mix it up. Below is a list of fun way to use play dough.
