Pom Pom Pen Holders

Pom poms are all the rage at the moment, and that’s fine by me. I ADORE pom poms! They pop up in all sorts of forms, and below are some adorable products I’ve seen in my travels.

If you want to bring some pom-pom-ness to a desk or children’s bedroom, you can convert an empty can into a caddy. Use it for pens, pencils, paint brushes, make up brushes or other tools. It’s a sure way to brighten any space.

Materials

  • Clean empty can
  • Pom Poms (approximately 200 small for each can)
  • Hot glue gun

I purchased pom poms from Riot, but you can get them also from other craft places like Spotlight, or even places like ETSY.

Instructions

1. Don’t be shy with the glue! Apply a generous amount and secure pom poms to the can by pressing them into the glue. Continue around the tin, line by line until the can is covered. That’s it!

Tip: For a different sort of look, use a section piece fabric over the tin (glue on with Mod Podge) and then decorate the pom poms sparingly or along the top.

I use a Tupperware can opener which leaves a non-sharp seal on the cans. However, if the edges of the can is sharp, simple use sections of tape along the edges before attaching the pom poms.

I just discovered your website whilst on the hunt for fun things to do with my four year old daughter and I think she would love this! It suits me too, as I’m not really an arts and crafts kind of mum, but I think I could manage this activity. Thanks for the inspiration!
