Cabbage Patch Kids Names From The 80s and 90s

If you were a child of the 80s or 90s, you’d remember the popular, sculptured dolls called Cabbage Patch Kids. Nearly every kid had one, unless your parents opted to buy the cheaper version. I had a similar doll which I called Judy. She came with me when I was six to get my tonsils out. To this day she still has the hospital band the nurse placed around Judy’s arm when I had my operation.

The dolls became a popular toy because of the unique adoption process which made it personal and special. Each doll came with their own unique name and birth certificate. Names could be officially changed but it was a process and this added to their charm. With a soft body to cuddle, sweet clothes to accessorise, adorable facial features and the iconic signature on the butt, the Cabbage Patch Kid dolls hit the spot for retro kids.

See the signature of Xavier Robert on the bottom? I was reading on My CP Collection about identifying the date from the signature, and it looks like this one was from 1985.

Identifying Cabbage Patch Kid from signature

  • 1983 – Black
  • 1984 – Green (Preemies and Foreign kids had Black siggies this year)
  • 1985 – Blue
  • 1986 – Red
  • 1987 – Aqua
  • 1988 – Lavender
  • 1989 – Rose

Brooke was hoping someone might be able to help her with finding out more about her brother’s doll from the signature. Any feedback? Just leave it in the comments. The only thing I was curious about is the signature does not seem to be the traditional one from Xavier Robert (like the doll pictured above). However, it does seem to be one of the earlier signatures used by Xavier.

When we asked the BAFM community what your cabbage patch doll was called, we were blown away with the names. Some of them are hilarious. Others are a bit strange. Any wonder some of you requested a name change!

Jodie shared her doll called Dwight Matthew, who she played with when she was a child, and then her son after her. Oh, mine had one of those dummies too!

Here is a list in alphabetical order of some of the Cabbage Patch Kids that were adopted in the 80’s and 90’s. Some of these ‘kids’ are 30 years old. If you want yours on the list also, simply leave a comment below.

My daughter received her first Cabbage Patch doll for Christmas in 1984 from her grandmother. I recall that she had to order it and wasnas not allowed an option of a boy or girl, color of hair, etc…
It was a boy with auburn hair, and his birth name was
    Monte Cristo.

My doll had such an ugly name that I renamed her. Ha! Yep. I got her the Christmas that I was nine in 1983. Her name was, Wilda Ingrid. Yeesh. I didn’t adjust anything on her paperwork of course. She was an expensive doll, which my parents made sure I understood, but I otherwise changed her name to “Emily Ann”. You know. In the event that anyone asked.

If you see this, and add her to the list up there, I’ll totally understand your using her “birth” name. Wilda Ingrid. Yeesh.

I’m trying to figure out the name of a Cabbage Patch Doll. She was a green-eyed,red-headed Corn Silk doll (with curled bangs) with a baby blue dress (a monochromatic woven pattern ; excluding trim, etc.) with puff sleeves, white socks and I believe black shoes. Can you please tell me how to find out her name, a picture of her and any other information, that you may have?
Than you so much for your time. I will check back on here for replies.

Reginald Jules was the one I got for my 5 year old son in 1985 during the panic to get a Cabbage Patch doll for Christmas. People were flying across the ocean from the US to England to get a Cabbage Patch doll for Christmas for their child. Some people were paying up to $300 for one doll. It was so ridiculous.

My Cabbage Patch Dolls name is not on your list..
    Ronni Fannie
She has red yarn hair and a top knot pig tail braid.
Red Baseball type wind breaker on with the Cabbage Patch Doll name on it.
    Blue Jeans.
White sox with tennis shoes with pink stripes.
She is still in the original box. She has never been removed. The Birth Certificate is still connected to the interior of the box.
I do not want to touch her or the interior items in the box..
I am 76 years old and do not recall what year I got her…except I do remember the doll was becoming very popular..so I bought her for $29.99….I never had children…but kept the doll.
I would however love to know when she was born…is she valuable? ……or just valuable to me?

My Mom bought each one of her 5 grown daughters a Cabbage Patch Kids doll in 1985. Mine is AUDREY LYNN & she has never been out of the box until tonight, Feb. 8, 2021, just to look at her tag & signature on the bum. She has red braided pigtails, a soft peach cordurouy overall and lace trimmed blouse. She’s wearing a diaper & she comes with an extra diaper (with Cabbage Patch logos all over it!) AND a really cute pair of glasses. The ironic thing is that her glasses are that light pink translucent acetate kind that is all the rage, now, in 2021!! I was wondering why her name wasn’t on the list but I see it’s just a partial listing. Her birth date is Sept. 1, 1985. You could add her to your list, too.

I have a lovely Cabbage Patch Kid named Mellicent Addy. She is still in her box with her birth certificate saying she was born October 1. I did not see her name on the Name list. She has a blue windowpane dress with red tights. Her hair is a sandy blonde. Her box is in great condition and has 3900 Coleco on it. 1985 is the year. Do you know her value? Where might I sell her?Thank you.
