I’m gearing up for the summer holiday season where we go on road trip and explore. I found this idea via The Instructables, and I made my own modifications.
Materials
- Empty DVD Case
- Pencils
- Paper
- Light Cardboard
- Scrap Material
- Hot Glue / Craft Glue
- Craft Knife
- Scissors
- Small board
1. Remove DVD holder
The first step is the tricky part and then the rest is super easy. You want to remove the raised DVD holder part of the case so you have enough room to fill it. Open the DVD case and slide the small board between the plastic outer case and the dvd. This is to protect the plastic film cover.
Then cut the entire circle out. The best way to do this is to puncture a hole, then insert the craft knife in and slide around. Just be really careful to keep your hands clear of the blade unless it slips.
2. Make Inner Section
Cut a piece of cardboard to size to fit inside the base of the open DVD case.
Take one piece of fabric and wrap around the cardboard and glue in place.
Next, use the pencils as a guide to see where to glue the second piece of fabric. Make it high enough so the pencils don’t fall out easily. Then wrap it around the base part and glue in place.
Cut another smaller piece of cardboard and glue on the back to reinforce.
Use craft of a hot glue gun to glue the base portion in place.
3. Front Cover
You can just leave the cover as it is, but if you want to customise it, simply take out the current DVD cover and use a template to cut out patterened or plain paper.
Slip back inside the case.
Add paper to the left-hand section and it’s done.
This fits well inside a backpack or even your handbag.
