Interview with Lynn Morrison from BLUNT Moms

Lynn and I exploring Jerusalem city

Interview with Lynn Morrison from BLUNT Moms

Last year, I travelled to Israel with four women from around the globe with not-for-profit company Vibe Israel. It was an incredible experience. When you travel with people, you can’t help but bond in a special way, and I consider these women the sort of friends that could visit Australia and drop in on me anytime. I did a short interview with each of the women while I was in Israel. Meet Lynn.

Lynn Morrison is a smart-ass American raising two prim princesses with her obnoxiously skinny Italian husband in Oxford, England. She writes for BLUNTmoms.com in between working and raising her children. If you’ve ever hidden pizza boxes at the bottom of the trash or worn maternity pants when not pregnant, chances are you’ll resonate with Lynn. As I get older, frankness is one of those qualities I look for and highly appreciate in people. Say what you mean, and mean what you say: we need more of that. Lynn is one of those people who exudes confidence and openness, and this comes across in her writing. One afternoon, Lynn and I took a brisk walk along the beach forefront in Tel Aviv, and we talked and talked. We discovered a mutual friend in Renee from Professional Parents — an Australian who now lives in the Netherlands with her Dutch husband and two daughters. How cool is that! I love how, as mothers, we can live in different countries, and yet there is so much we have in common in the joys and struggles of our everyday lives.

Introduce yourself

My name is Lynn Morrison, I blog for BLUNTmoms.com and I’m from Oxford, England.

What is your greatest parenting challenge at the moment?

I have an eight-year-old, and she’s starting to enter that time period when she has to build up backbone that she’ll need by the time she’s in the teenage years. Right now, she’s very susceptible to following along with a group. So my challenge right now is trying to install a steel rod in her backbone.

What is your greatest parenting joy at the moment?

Watching them blossom. Both my children are great readers and writers, and as a writer, it’s really rewarding to see them have a passion for something I also have a passion in.

What don’t you miss when you’re away from home?

Work. I have not missed work this week.

What do you miss the most when you’re away from home?

Nothing. I do miss my family, but it’s been nice, I’m not going to lie.
