My bestie and I took our daughters to visit Japan in 2016. It was amazing.
We visited Ishigaki Island (review here) and then spent a few days in Tokyo. I wish we had more time to explore Tokyo — I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did! I mean, I knew I would love it…but I LOVED it. The people are extremely kind and helpful in Japan. Tokyo is clean, I felt extremely safe, the public transport system is amazing and there is so much to do. We noticed the many stores and restaurants are open really late, so you can pop out anytime.
We only had a day and a half in Tokyo so we only had a chance to visit the Tree Tower, Shibuya city corner and Disneyland with the girls. We stayed at the Tobu Hotel (in a Quadruple Room), which was a central location, close to trains and the Tree Tower. An ideal base point for exploring Tokyo. I would recommend the hotel, and would definitely go back there if (when) I visit again.
When I go back and explore further one day, I would visit Takeshita Street in Harajuku, Kiddyland the Monster Cafe in Harajuku and the Asakusa district.
The Disney Castle – Outside
Just magic.
The Disney Castle – Inside
Explore parts inside too.
Rides and Other Fun
We only had a short day to explore. I would recommend allocating a couple of days to explore, although it is small enough that you can see most things if you have a full day. There are heaps or rides and other fun areas. My daughter’s favourite ride was Space Mountain. SO FUN!
Food
You HAVE to get some Disney food. Below is the Mickey waffle. It was HUGE.
Shop
I spent way too much at the Disney shop. There are just so many cute things!! For example, this doll I bought home for one of my other daughters.
Flights to Japan are affordable, and it’s not too far away, so if you’re wanting that Disney experience but don’t want to travel too far from Australia, it’s a wonderful place to visit. Absolutely recommend Japan in general to visit as a family. We had such a fun time there. Until next time.
