Disney on Ice has released its 2019 tour dates!
My girls and I went to last year’s show and we had such a fun time! The show was just amazing — the sets, the skating, the music! What I love about these events is how the adults enjoy the show just as much as the kids. This year’s show centres on Mickey Mouse and friends, plus features Moana for the first time.
Tom Williams, Disney Dad and Australian media personality has been confirmed as Disney On Ice Ambassador for 2019 – becoming the first father to take on the role in Australia.
“I’m thrilled to be the ambassador for the 2019 Disney On Ice tour. My wife Rachel and I will be able to share our childhood Disney memories with our girls, Storm and Sloane” says Tom.
“I have such vivid memories of these stories from my own childhood and even now as a dad! Disney stories have the unique ability to remain magical for people of all ages and introduce us to characters that teach us important values. I personally identify with Goofy because I love making people laugh.”
About the 2019 Show – Disney On Ice celebrates Mickey and Friends

This year, the show is about going on a journey, visiting new worlds and discovering the stories of the characters along the way. Mickey Mouse is joined by Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy on a journey to discover his favourite memory of all time. Using Mickey’s “Mouse Pad”, show hosts encourage fans to be part of the action and help the gang venture though Disney stories, sharing memorable moments from treasured tales.
For the first time, Moana makes an appearance, as she displays courage to save her island on a high-seas adventure with Maui. Families will voyage to the wintry world of Arendelle with royal sisters Anna and Elsa, and experience the mysterious magic of Fantasia. Dory and Nemo make an appearance, along with the crew from Inside Out, Toy Story and more.
Produced by Feld Entertainment, Disney On Ice celebrates Mickey and Friends commemorates 90 years of Mickey Mouse and honours Walt Disney’s legacy by bringing acclaimed stories to life on the ice.

Tips
- Arrive in plenty of time so you don’t have to rush. There is plenty of parking at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre and there are attendants to guide.
- It’s fun to dress up. The kids can wear their favourite Disney costume, or pick up some cute accessories at the venue before the show starts.
- Enjoy the lead up in the weeks before the event. Pull out your favourite Disney movies, play with the Disney Words by Woolies (I have heaps of ideas here) or check out some of the behind the scenes videos with the kids, like this feature on the Disney On Ice ice-skaters.
- Take note of where the bathrooms are when you arrive incase the child/ren need to use the facilities.
- Bring a few clothing layer options. We didn’t find it cold, but it’s a good idea to have some options so everyone feels comfortable.

May 7, 2019 at 8:43 pmMy daughter has always LOVED Frozen, so we took them two years ago to see DOI when Frozen had first been added. I think that is her fave Disney moment, I think mine is secretly watching her sing and act along everytime she put it on.
She still loves Frozen but moved onto Moana.

She wasn’t really sure what was happening but when she turned the corner and saw Princess Aurora….she couldn’t help but squeal and ran towards her “princess aurora, princess aurora”. The pure delight on her face will be one I will never forget.

That night she even told her grandoarenrs about pumba going through timons legs.

She started daycare at 2 and had terrible separation anxiety and cried so much when I left. One day she wanted to wear her Elsa dress to daycare and she didn’t cry at all and had the best day. She loved being referred to as Elsa and saying Elsa can do anything. It was like the dress transformed her into Elsa.

She loves Elsa because her friend at Sunday school is a big fan, wearing Elsa dress and singing the song with her! She’s also got excited whenever she sees anything with Minnie Mouse and Moana!
My other child- 7yo boy loves buzz light year & woody from toy story, he can’t wait to see toy story 4, too! He loves them because they have good friendships and buzz has cool gear.

We still enjoy watching all the short movies we would take. One movie in particular was of my 3 year boy singing a solo of ‘Let it Go’. Disney movies are the best!!

May 8, 2019 at 9:41 amMy 2 y/o son loves The Cars movie. He has a little story about Mater and he absolutely loves that book. He has gotten us to read that story every night before bed. The book is only made of paper and he loves it. Even if it gets ripped and he’s pulled it away from his baby sister the book has been mended with a ton of sticky tape and she still loves it. He knows the story forwards and backwards and it’s helping him to recognise letters and words too. It’s amazing to see my baby boy loving books and wanting to “read”.

He is somehow mesmerised by this loving and adorable character that has most certainly stood the test of time and entertained kids for decades and I’m sure many more decades to come!!

May 8, 2019 at 2:03 pmI will always treasure the memory of hiring a small catamaran on holiday, only to find our two daughters were absolutely terrified to be aboard… Until we reminded them of Moana. Within 10 minutes they were helping us to steer. By the end we were all laughing, wind in our hair and sea spray in our faces and the littlest (3) singing “How Far I’ll Go”.

Well you can imagine what actually happened when we saw her …… absolute frozen silence! She snuggled into me and wouldn’t even give poor Minnie a smile. Thankfully we have lots of photos and can look and them and remind her of how excited she was (and it’s ok to be a little shy).

Her imaginary friend was named, Goofy and all day everyday we’d hear her invite ‘Goof’ to sit at the table and into the car. We always had a chuckle when she exclaimed, ‘Oh Goof’, when he had obviously done something particularly goofy. At nearly 10 now she smiles knowlingly whenever we remind her of her past friend. It’s a lovely Disney related memory for us.

We have often had to reenact this scene, many times, during play. Also most visitors have been asked to participate, as other animals, and cheer when Simba is raised!

May 15, 2019 at 9:17 amWe lived in Switzerland for about 2 years and Disney movies were a way for our children to experience a part of our own childhood. Our 3 year old daughter fell in love with Frozen and particularly, Elsa. To her delight, Frozen was a part of the children movies available on the flights back to Australia when we moved home last year. As the flights were not full, we had a few rows available. She changed seats throughout the flights and watched Frozen. It was great that she was entertained for the entire transit! To see Disney on Ice would be the best experience to share with my kids.

Since they were toddlers our family have shared Disney movie time watching some of he classics ( my faves from childhood) and some of the modern releases. Great memories they will treasure forever. She loves it for the simple joy it brings – but also as it’s become a bit of an anthem for our little family of 3.
We use frozen heaps to talk about strength of character. Our family unfortunately was a victim of family violence and often master 7 emulates domineering behaviours.
Frozen has lots of messages to be taken to understand the world she lives in. Fixerupper has proved me the perfect words:
“People make bad choices if they’re mad or scared or stressed
But throw a little love their way, and you’ll bring out their best”
To help me explain to her the dynamics between mum & dad and why she should show him all the love in the world despite this.

Whilst his favourite memory wasn’t mummy selling all of his toys as he outgrew them, his favourite memory now is reminiscing over the 3 Toy Story movies in preparation for the 4th one coming out soon. I took two friends (ok my Mum did) into the city and we went to Tops for a ride on the rollercoaster before going to my first Disney movie in a cinema. Our most favourite disney experience however came as a most wonderful surprise when my sister returned after working at disney world florida for 18 months. She had gone to great lengths to get special autographed pictures of my childrens favourite cast characters and personalised mickey ears. WE may not be able to visit the usa but she certainly brought the disney magic to us.

My 12 Yr olds face was just one of bewilderment the whole time and its definitely his favourite Disney memory and its also become one of our family’s happiest memories. Watching them get so involved in the show and wanting to go back and watch all of the movies from scenes they didn’t recognise afterwards was a great way to fill in the holidays. This year we have a 7 month old who we’d love to take along. Never to young or to old to enjoy Disney on Ice.
