I make these as much for me as for the children’s lunch boxes. I find them a great energy snack that ties me over to the next meal and you can find them popping up in my food diary over the last 7 weeks.
I do make these balls quite small though, because even though the ingredients are largely wholesome, they still are quite sweet. I usually make a heap of them and put them straight into the freezer to use here and there over the upcoming month. I eat them straight from the freezer. Delicious.

October 7, 2014 at 12:56 pmHi there. I wanted to thank you for this recipe. I was looking for a nut free snack that my son could eat on the run between morning classes, and that would sustain him until lunch. I changed the apricots to dried cherries, and the skim milk powder to pumpkin seed powder. My son loves them!

August 3, 2015 at 3:27 pmMade these just before school pick up – YUM! Such a sweet boost and will be great in the lunchboxes (if I don’t eat them all first). I had to substitute a few things out due to lack of ingredients. Here’s my version:
1 cup (150 grams) Pitted Dates
1 cup (150 grams) Dried Apricots
1/2 cup (40 grams) pepitas
1/2 cup (50 grams) rolled oats
1/4 cup (20 grams) coconut oil
2 tablespoons boiling water
2 teaspoons cocoa
coated in teff seeds

January 20, 2017 at 7:17 amQuick question. Quite a few of your recipes call for skim milk powder and water. Might seem like a silly question, but could you just use low fat milk?

January 20, 2017 at 12:58 pmI need to know this too. I want to make these shortly but don’t have milk powder!
